Tau-Tau figure, Toraja tribe

Tau-tau is an effigy that represents the deceased of a family of the Toraja tribe located in South Sulawesi in Indonesia. As a representation of the deceased, the Tau-tau are seen as the guardians of the grave as well as protectors of life. It represents the spirit of the deceased who continues to exist after death.
