Silex, a washi paper luminary, the inspiration of Céline Wright
« I was looking for an angular, elongated shape, inspired by the cut stone tool. Gradually a woman took shape, elegant, as if wrapped in the drapery of a mythological goddess. Circe, the Greek goddess, appeared in the form of a flint »
Circe the enchantress bewitched Ulysses, who interrupted his journey, lowering his sails to live a love story. Like the song of a mermaid… of stone!
The paper strips arranged in scales undulate on the shape as if on the back of a mermaid.
« My inspiration is usually linked to nature. For the first time, the history of statues and divinities brings me back to that of humanity, to beliefs and to our mortal condition that we seek to transcend … »
Made up of six layers of overlapping washi paper, that is to say 260 diamond shaped strips glued by hand, Silex is available in 3 models.
