The “Ge Ba” originated in China from the recycling of clothes too used to be still worn. These fabric collages retrace Chinese life and history in colour, offering our astonished eyes magnificent paintings whose shades and textures are strangely reminiscent of the works of Poliakoff or de Staël. Handmade between the 1950s and 1970s, these pieces are genuinely unique.
They have been exhibited at the Beaubourg Centre, the Bilbao Guggenheim Museum and the EDF Foundation. After Georges Dautresme, their “discoverer”, Atmosphère d’Ailleurs once possessed the most important Ge Ba collection in the world.
